8:56 a.m. ET - Every year I refrain from handing out draft grades because it's silly to grade a teams draft before their prospects have yet to play a game, and this year will be no different, but just my thoughts on two AFC East teams that will be under the microscope for the moves they made on the first two days of the draft.
- I'm still scratching my head why the Bills gave up their first and fourth round picks for the 2015 Draft just to move up 5 spots in the first round. It's a move that's made when a team is just one player away from making the playoffs or winning it all, not by a team that is hoping their quarterback stays healthy for 16 games and plays much better than he did last season. It will go down as one of the worse draft day decisions in a while if the Bills don't get better play from E.J. Manuel, and improve immensely, because the Bills have essentially taken themselves out of next year's quarterback derby, and that pick they dealt to the Browns could easily become a top ten pick in next years draft.
--The Jets had better hope that third round sleeper cornerback Dexter McDougle can stay healthy and make their fans forget about Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, because they passed up higher rated CB's Darqueze Dennard, Jason Verrett and Bradley Roby in the first round for safety Calvin Pryor. Then in the second round they took a chance on Jace Amaro, a talented non-blocking tight end with off the field character concerns, while passing up Troy Nicklas, a prospect with more upside and a squeaky clean record off the field. Just wondering if the Jets would have been better off with Darqueze Dennard, Troy Nicklas, and Donte Moncrief or Tom Savage as their top three picks in the draft. Only time will tell! -Al Fronczak
7:53 a.m. ET - I finished tied for 10th place out of the top 100 media mocks for the 2014 draft and finished ahead of Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, Mike Mayock, among other recognizable media members. On the flip side, had I not moved off of UCLA LB Anthony Barr going to the Vikings, which I had in all of my previous mocks and stuck with Eric Ebron going to the Lions which I had in a previous mock and included Dee Ford in the first round which I also had included in all of my previous mocks, I would have finished in first place. I'll be posting a second round mock later this morning. -Al Fronczak

11:09 a.m. ET - There hasn't been a ton of talk regarding UCLA OLB Anthony Barr, but I expect him to come off the board within the first eleven picks in the draft and possibly as high as No. 6 to Atlanta, if the top three offensive tackles are taken within the first five picks. The Falcons have put Barr through three workouts during the pre-draft process, which makes me believe he's their fallback option at No. 6, if the three tackles go early. Barr reminds me alot of a young DeMarcus Ware in the way he can dip and bend coming off the edge, and he has a huge upside since he's still just learning the game on the defensive side of the ball. -Al Fronczak

1:23 p.m. ET - Here's my take on the latest buzz surrounding Teddy Bridgewater's falling draft stock. Bridgewater is better at his pre-snap reads, does a better job of keeping his eyes up while being pressured and is tougher in the pocket and willing to take a hit, than Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel and Derek Carr. Add to that the fact that he doesn't turn the ball over because of his ability to read a defense, while the rest of the top quarterback have questionmarks. Derek Carr is skittish when he senses pressure and tends to see ghosts in the pocket, Blake Bortles needs to improve his mechanics and his decision making, while Johnny Manziel's biggest drawback in my opinion, is his lack of ideal height. Bridgewater doesn't have the arm strength of Carr, the size of Bortles, or the athleticism of Manziel, but he has the intangibles which keeps him at the top of my quarterback list. NFL teams are infatuated with quarterbacks that have a strong arm and ideal size, which is why they missed on Joe Montana, drafted in the third round of the 1979 draft, 82nd player overall, Tom Brady drafted in the sixth round of the 2000 draft - 199th player overall, and Russell Wilson, drafted in the third round of the 2012 draft - 75th player overall. Those misses by NFL teams all came in three different decades, which tells me that they didn't learn fom their mistakes. I'm not anointing Teddy Bridgewater as the next Peyton Manning, but Bridgewater and Johnny Manziel, despite his lack of ideal size, are the safest picks of this quarterback class, in my opinion, which doesn't have a sure-fire franchise quarterback among the group. -Al Fronczak

10:31 a.m. ET - One prospect that has been gaining steam leading up to the draft is Nevada OT Joel Bitonio. On tape, Bitonio flashes athleticism which is that of a left tackle, and his combine numbers and performance in the position drills confirm that. His forty-time - 4.97, ten-yard split time of 1.69, vertical jump - 32", and broad jump numbers 9-6, along with his shuttle times exceeded all of the top linemen prospects in the draft except for Michigan OT Taylor Lewan, who ran a better forty-time 4.87, and has a better broad jump number of 9-9. I've had Binonio ranked as my second-rated guard in the draft, but he has the ability to play right tackle, and possibly fill in at left tackle in a pinch, at the next level in my opinion, which has his stock soaring leading up to the draft. -Al Fronczak

11:31 a.m ET - I've just updated my mock draft once again, as the pieces are starting to fall into place. -Al Fronczak
8:02 a.m. ET - I'm getting the sense that Central Florida QB Blake Bortles will be the first quarterback to come off the board on the first day of the draft. I'm not as high on Bortles as some are, but his size and ability to extend plays with his feet are attractive to teams. The Texans are trying to move down from the first-overall pick, and could take Bortles if they're successful in moving down in the draft. The Falcons and Bills are two teams that have been linked to a potential trade up with the Texans for the first-overall pick, with DE Jadeveon Clowney being the player that both teams reportedly covet. -Al Fronczak

10:18 a.m. ET - In my latest mock draft version 3.0, I have three cornerbacks coming off the board within the first 18 picks, not only because it's a passing league and somebody has to cover those receivers, but because Bradley Roby and Kyle Fuller have been undervalued by the draft sites up to this point, but not by NFL teams. -Al Fronczak
Al Fronczak's Sunday Morning Scoop
7:06 a.m ET - Over the last few weeks I've been the first to point out the meteoric rise of Pitt QB Tom Savage and the fact that NFL teams weren't as high on this years quarterback class as the draft media was. Al Fronczak's Sunday Morning Scoop
7:12 a.m. ET - USC WR Marquise Lee, could be in for a bit of a slide come draft weekend because of a very talented receiver group. Lee's 2012 tape is much much better than his 2013 tape, because he had a better quarterback throwing him the football and because he wasn't hurt, but the fact that he ran a 4.52 forty-time, and he has a slight build, could make him prone to injury at the next level.
Halfback Terrance Cobb, of Cumberland College, Ky, is a sleeper prospect that is flying under the radar. Cobb is 5-10.1, 218, ran a 4.42 forty-time for scouts, and had a whopping 1991 rushing yards and 26 TDs in 2012, when he was named the BSN offensive player of the year. In 2013, Cobb had an injury filled season, but still managed to post 540 rushing yards, with 6 TDs, in just 3 games.
The general consensus among league sources is there will be just one or two quarterbacks taken in the first round of the draft, with as many as six quarterbacks being selected in round two.
Several teams that own a pick within the top-ten picks in the draft are reportedly looking to trade down and stockpile picks. The Texans at pick No.1, the Rams at pick No. 2, and the Raiders at pick No. 5, are three teams picking in the top five of the draft that are looking to move down, if the price is right. Buffalo at pick No. 9, is in an interesting slot in the draft, since they could attract attention from teams looking to move up for DT Aaron Donald, if he's still on the board, since the Rams at pick No. 13, trhe Bears at pick No. 14, and the Cowboys at pick No. 16, are all said to covet Donald, and could attempt to position themselves ahead of Detroit at pick No. 10, since the Lions have shown some interest in the Pitt defensive tackle. The Chargers at pick No. 25, are another team that's in great position to attract attention in the bottom part of the draft from teams interested in moving up for a quarterback, since they sit one pick ahead of Cleveland - pick No. 26, which is the slot where many expect the Browns to take a quarterback in the draft.
A couple of teams that I spoke with this week are in the process of finalizing their board, but are letting their staff take the Easter weekend off as a break, to observe the holiday, so that they don't over-analyze the prospects, since the draft has been pushed back two weeks this year.
I'm in the process of finishing up the defensive prospects available in the draft, and should have an updated mock ready for posting sometime later this week. -Al Fronczak

Al Fronczak's Sunday Morning Scoop
7:46 a.m. ET - Georgia Southern halfback Jerick McKinnon, is going to come off the board much sooner than people think because he's a strong and explosive runner and former quarterback that really helped his stock at the combine by running a 4.41 forty-time, to go along with an incredible 1.46 ten-yard split time. McKinnon also did 32 reps on the bench, had a 40.5" vertical jump and a 11-0 broad jump. Don't be surprised when McKinnon's name is called earlier than some of the more publicized names in the draft.
Pittsburgh quarterback Tom Savage is another prospect that is going to surprise people at how high he gets drafted. I'm not talking first round, but he will come off the board much higher than what most of the so-called draft experts think. Savage is a bit over-aged at 24 years old, but his size, footwork, arm strength, setup and release, remind some people in the league of a young Ben Roethlisberger, with the tools to work with and mold.
Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans has a chance to come off the board before Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins. Evans is just 20 years old, and has a rare combination of size 6-4.6, 231, to go along with long arms - 35 1/8, and the ability to jump, since he had a 37" vertical at the combine. His forty-time of 4.53 ,is just one-tenth of a second slower than Watkins, despite carrying 20 more pounds on his frame. With Evans combination of rare size, long arms, and jumping ability, he's going to be a mismatch for nearly every cornerback in the league, since he's much taller than them, and thus be open, even if he's covered.
In my latest mock draft update on Friday, I penciled in Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr to the Cleveland Browns, just one week after I wrote about the Browns interest in Central Florida Quarterback Blake Bortles. I was informed that Carr wowed the Browns brass at his pro day workout, and face to face meeting that afternoon, and has reportedly climbed to the top of the Browns board at the quarterback position.
The Tampa Bay Bucs pick at No. 7 is an interesting pick, because the general consensus is the team will fill their need at the wide receiver position with the selection of Mike Evans, who I've had mocked to the Bucs in my first two attempts. However, this week (before the Mike Williams trade), I was told by a reliable source that the Bucs have their eye on Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald, who head coach Lovie Smith wants as his three-technique for his Tampa-2 scheme. It was also mentioned to me that the Bucs are considering plucking one of the quarterbacks available off the board, with an early pick, possibly at pick No. 7. Now this was all before the Mike Williams trade, so I'm still leaning toward Evans with their pick, but keep in mind that this draft is very deep at the receiver position.
Last but not least, I found out this week that the Dallas Cowboys could pull another surprise in the first round of the draft, by reaching for a player like they did in last years draft, with the selection of center Travis Frederick. Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones is said to covet Ohio State OLB Ryan Shazier, and could pull the trigger on him with their pick at No.16, if Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald is already off the board. Shazier is a nice player, and he ran a fast forty-time at the combine, but valuing him as the sixteenth best player in a very deep draft, sounds like another reach to me. -Al Fronczak

Browns/Carr - 7:03 p.m. ET - There's a lot of steam building concerning the Browns interest in QB Derek Carr, since he worked out for the team this afternoon, and has been linked to them by people in the know that are close to the Browns organization. Al Fronczak's Sunday Morning Scoop - 8:34 a.m. ET - This is the first segment of my Sunday Morning Scoop, which will run right up until the draft and be posted every Sunday morning. My first mock for the 2014 draft was posted on Friday, and didn't include Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel in the first round. It wasn't an omission on my part, but due to the mere fact that there hasn't been an NFL quarterback that was less than six-feet tall, that was taken in the first round of the NFL draft in the modern day draft era. If Manziel were two inches taller, he would be the first overall pick in the draft come May, in my opinion, but because of his lack of ideal size, some NFL teams could take him completely off their board, which would be a huge mistake in my opinion. As for Manziel, don't expect the Minnesota Vikings to select him with their first pick in the draft, since offensive coordinator Norv Turner has always liked big pocket quarterbacks that can push the ball down the field, like Troy Aikman in Dallas, and Phillip Rivers in San Diego. I don't expect the Vikings to draft Manziel, unless Norv Turner changes his ways. On to Cleveland, the Browns didn't send a representative to Manziel's workout, and Brown's GM Ray Farmer wasn't in attendance at the Louisville - Teddy Bridewater pro day either, but he did attend the South Florida - Blake Bortles pro day. The Browns have made it known that they plan on working out both Manziel and Bridgewater in private, but I already believe that they have tipped their hand as to which of those three quarterbacks they prefer. As for Bortles, I'm not as high on him as most analysts are, and I believe it would be a mistake if he were selected in the first round of the draft, since he's a project at best, in my opinion. Lastly, don't be surprised if the Buffalo Bills make a big splash in this years draft, since they have already been connected to a potential trade up with the Houston Texans. If the report is correct and the Bills did move up to either the Texans pick, or the Rams pick at No. 2, I believe their move up in the draft could be for Johnny Manziel, since there are rumors out there that the Jaguars are considering Manzell with the third-overall pick in the draft. The Jaguars could become the first team in modern day history of the draft to take a quarterback in the first round that was less than six-feet tall, because the franchise needs to roll the dice and find a face for their franchise that would fill all of the empty seats in Everbank field and give the fans some hope and some much needed energy for the team. As for the Bills, general manager Doug Whaley has gone out of his way to state publicly that the Bills aren't interested in taking a quarterback in the first round of the draft, and are confident in EJ Manuel, but keep in mind that Manuel was former general manager Buddy Nix's pick last year, and not Whaley's. I believe Whaley's stance on the Bills quarterback situation is just a smokescreen, which is why I believe they could surprise some people with their first pick in this draft. With that stated, the Bills aren't in the same situation as the Jaguars are in, since they sell out most of their early games on their schedule, but they have struggled recently to sell out the last few home games, with those games being played in the cold of late November and December. The Bills are also entering a new era of uncertainty, since owner Ralph Wilson passed away this week, and the team will be sold to the highest bidder. The Bills are a franchise that needs to depart from their old ways of doing things, and they also need some energy and a huge uplift at this time, so they could be looking at Johhny Manziel, to do just that. -Al Fronczak

Overreaction - 6:24 a.m. ET - I must admit that I'm shocked that all the NFL analysts are falling all over Johnny Manziel after his pro day workout yesterday. I kept hearing he won't fall past the Browns pick at No. 7, he won't get past the Vikings at No. 8, etc, etc, etc. Well I guess that I shouldn't be shocked, since those are the same analysts that said Geno Smith won't fall out of the top 10 picks of the draft last year, and we all know how that turned out. I really like Manziel as a prospect, but his lack of ideal height and body build will keep him from being a high pick, and likely out of the first round of the draft, in my opinion. -Al Fronczak

I watched Blake Bortle's workout on the NFL Network, and came away impressed that his footwork and balance while throwing is much better than what I saw on tape, since he now leans into his throws rather than throwing off his back foot, but like all pro days, it was done without pads on and without defenders breathing down his neck. Most of his misses were of the deep ball variety. All in all, it was far from a perfect workout in my opinion, but pro day workouts are just a small part of the pre-draft process, with a prospects game tape being the single most important part of the evaluation process. -Al Fronczak

3:44 pm ET...Just my opinion, but I believe Teddy Bridgewater's struggles at his pro day workout were due to the fact that he has been working on improving his mechanics by using his legs more to drive the football, and because of that his accuracy wasn't as good as I've seen on tape, where he completed 68% of his passes at Louisville. Trying to get a QB to adjust to how he throws a football, is much like telling a golfer to adjust his swing, even though his game has been good. The results usually aren't favorable. Bridgewater also threw without a glove on his throwing hand for the first time in three years at Louisville and in high school. -Al Fronczak
Louisville Pro Day Notes - 11:39 am ET - Teddy Bridgewater had an underwhelming scripted passing workout in which he completed 57 out of 65 passes with 2 drops, NFL Network Analyst, Mike Mayock, called it "a very average workout at best"...11:14 am ET - Eagles HC Chip Kelly, Raiders HC Dennis Allen, Jaguars HC Gus Bradley, Texans HC Bill O'Brien, Titans HC Ken Whisenhunt, and Vikings HC Mike Zimmer and OC Norv Turner are in attendance at the Louisville pro day... 10:06 am ET - Teddy Bridgewater ran an unofficial 4.78 forty-time...8:49 am ET - Representatives from 30 NFL teams are in attendance at the Louisville pro day this morning, with the Dolphins, Redskins, and Steelers being the three teams not represented - Teddy Bridgewater weighed in at 208, which is 6 pounds lighter than his weight (214) at the combine.

Quarterbacks - 7:47 a.m. ET - My top ten quarterback rankings are posted, and I must say that only one - Teddy Bridgewater, deserves to be taken in the first round of the draft, according to my rankings. Johnny Manziel's lack of ideal height is a concern, but if a team can get over it, he has a chance to land somewhere in the first round, but keep in mind it's all about the measurables for NFL teams when making a pick in the first round of the draft. Blake Bortles has the size and all, but he's far from being a finished product and may never truly develop into a starter at the next level. David Fales is my sleeper quarterback in this draft, his lack of ideal arm strength is highly exaggerated, while David Carr has elite arm strength, but his footwork and bad habits need to be corrected and his inability to handle pocket pressure is comparable to that of Blaine Gabbert, in my opinion. -Al Fronczak

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien and Eagles head coach Chip Kelly were in attendance at the Pitt Panther pro day on Monday where Pitt CB Buddy Jackson ran a 4.33 forty-time.
QB Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois - Has good arm strength and gets the ball out quickly with a quick release...has plenty of rpms on his passes with good rotation on most of his passes...has a tendency to throw sidearmed at times...has quick feet and moves well in the pocket to avoid the rush...has good pocket presence...can be inconsistent at times with his ball placement...has a tendency to trust his arm too much and force the ball into coverage...All in all he didn't face top competition on a weekly basis, but when he did he performed pretty well. His stock has risen as of late, but not to the point that he should be considered one of the top prospects in this draft in my opinion. Draft Grade - 3rd to 4th round. -Al Fronczak

QB David Fales, San Jose State - Doesn't have a cannon for an arm, but has enough arm strength to make all of the throws...has a quick release and a good overhead throwing motion...knows where and when to throw the football and has good ball placement...will go through his progressions to find an open receiver...has quick feet and moves well in the pocket despite the fact that he's not a gifted athlete...has experience in playing under center and in a spread formation...All in all - Fales isn't overly athletic and he has a reputation for not having a good enough arm, but when you put on the tape he's able to make all the throws and his anticipation of when his receiver will be open is outstanding in my opinion...he's a cross between Andy Dalton and Chad Pennington...I don't expect him to come off the board any earlier than the fourth round, but I really like this prospects chances at the next level. -Al Fronczak
Notes - The NFL revised the Wonderlic test for combine participants this year, with Penn State guard John Urshel, being one of several combine participants to finish the entire 50 question exam, in 12 minutes.
