Johnson rebounds from back spasms to wow Scouts at his pro day

Josh Johnson had a very sharp workout at the San Diego Pro Day on Friday.  Johnson stood on his numbers from the combine, but took part in the on field drills as he threw the ball much better on Friday than what he did at the Combine.  Johnson threw a tight spiral and was very accurate on his passes as he performed a series of different passes for the scouts including some 20 yard outs and several deep outs to test his arm strength during the 40 plus minute workout.

I spoke with San Diego Toreros assistant coach Todd Washington the day after the pro day and Todd informed me that Johnson was suffering from back spasms at the Combine in Indy last month which hindered his on field workout in the passing drills.  Todd also mentioned that there were 25 NFL teams represented at Johnson's workout on Friday, including John Fox of the Carolina Panthers and Norv Turner of the San Diego Chargers.  The scouts from the 25 NFL teams that made the trip to San Diego, witnessed a healthier and better version of the San Diego Toreros quarterback.
