Al Fronczak's
2010 Mock Draft
Pre-Combine
(Version 3.0)
02/19

This is my third mock for the 2010 Draft, so still consider it a test run at this time.  Several players stock will change after the combine, and teams' needs will also change, due to free-agency. I will be updating this mock numerous times, between now and the Draft, and possibly once again before the combine.
                                                                                                                         -Al Fronczak

1. St. Louis Rams...DT Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska)...A great pick for the middle of their defensive        line, but just a hunch on my part that Sam Bradford will be the pick IF his shoulder passes an extensive set of tests that the Rams' medical staff is planning on putting him through at next week's combine.

2. Detroit Lions...DT Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma)...The Lions need a stud in the middle of their defensive line, so this pick is a no brainer...McCoy or Suh, whichever of the two falls in their lap.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers...CB/S Eric Berry (Tennessee)...Berry has the ability to play either CB or    Safety and the Bucs need as many DB's as possible to match up with their division rival Saints...a DE        like Jason Pierre Paul or Derrick Morgan could also be a possibility here.

4. Washington Redskins...QB Sam Bradford (Oklahoma)...The Redskins should have the pick of the litter at the OT position..but they also want the QB of their future on their roster from day one.

5. Kansas City Chiefs...OT Russell Okung (Oklahoma State)...A left tackle to protect Matt Cassel and  open holes for their running game is high on the Chiefs priority list.

6. Seattle Seahawks...OT Anthony Davis (Rutgers)...The Seahawks have two picks in the top 14      and would love to come away with a QB and a LT...Davis is their pick to replace LT Walter Jones.

7. Cleveland Browns...CB Joe Haden (Florida)...One of the Browns greatest needs is at the CB           position, and since both QB's have already come off the board, Haden is the pick...Note - The Browns       could roll the dice on WR Dez Bryant here.

8. Oakland Raiders...DT Dan Williams (Tennessee)...A left tackle to protect the Raiders biggest         investment - Jamarcus Russell (or the QB that beats him out for the job) is a high priority, but the top two have come off the board...Williams stock is going to go through the roof in the days leading up to the draft and the Raiders could use a dominating man in the middle of their defense.

9. Buffalo Bills...OT Trent Williams (Oklahoma)...The Bills have numerous needs including QB, NT and OT now that RT Brad Butler has retired...finding a NT to anchor their defense (since the Bills are switching to a 3-4 scheme) is a high priority, but Dan Williams has already come off the board...Trent Williams is available and would fill a huge need at the OT position for the Bills.

10. Denver Broncos (From Chicago)...WR Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State)...The popular belief if that    Brandon Marshall has played his last snap in a Broncos uniform...if that's the case, then this pick is a         no brainer since the team would lack a playmaker at the position.

11. Jacksonville Jaguars...DE Derrick Morgan (Georgia Tech)...The Jaguars greatest need is to      come out of this draft with an elite pass-rusher...Morgan fits the bill, IF he's still available...*I expect the Jaguars to make an attempt to trade down and out of this pick since they don't own a second round pick and team owner Wayne Weaver is on record saying he intends to take QB Tim Tebow.  Trade Down!

12. Miami Dolphins...CB Kyle Wilson (Boise State)...The Dolphins biggest needs are on the defensive   side of the ball at LB and at the FS/CB positions, but a playmaker for the offense couldn't hurt either...
The Dolphins could be a landing spot for UFA Karlos Dansby to fill a need at LB, if that doesn't happen, Rolando McClain could be their target...Wilson is the pick, if they land Dansby in free-agency.
*Note - This could be a surprise landing spot for HB C.J. Spiller.

13. San Francisco 49'ers...OT Brian Bulaga (Iowa)...The Niners need to find a starting left tackle        in this draft and have Bulaga on their radar.

14. Seattle Seahawks (From Denver)...QB Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame)..The Seahawks made LT Anthony Davis their first pick and take Clausen here since Matt Hasselback can no longer be counted on to play a full 16 game schedule.

15. New York Giants...ILB Rolando McClain (Alabama)...The Giants have a hole in the middle of their defense to fill with the release of Antonio Pierce...McClain is the answer and could be on the board depending on how he performs at the upcoming combine.

16. Tennessee Titans...DE Jason Pierre-Paul (South Florida)...The Titans have gone on record saying that they would like to keep UFA DE Kyle Vanden Bosch...but he turns 32 this season, and a rare pass-rushing talent like Pierre-Paul is still on the board.

17. San Francisco 49'ers (From Carolina)...HB C.J. Spiller (Clemson)...The Niners took OT Bulaga    with their first pick in the round and add Spiller here...Spiller would improve their return game and             would give the Niners a one-two punch in the backfield with Frank Gore.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers...OG/OT Mike Iupati (Idaho)...The Steelers biggest need is to improve their     offensive line, and Iupati can start at guard from day one, and kick out to tackle if needed.

19. Atlanta Falcons...CB Patrick Robinson (Florida State)...One of the Falcons biggest needs is in their secondary at the CB position...It's either Patrick Robinson or Earl Thomas here. *Note - A coin toss between the Falcons and Texans at the combine next week will determine who picks #19 and #20.

20. Houston Texans...CB Earl Thomas (Texas)...The Texans need help in their secondary and Thomas  can either play corner or move inside and play either safety position for the team.

21. Cincinnati Bengals...DT Brian Price (UCLA)..The Bengals feel they need to find a DT that can push the pocket and have found one in Price...the team signed WR Matt Jones, but they still need to find Carson Palmer some more targets to throw to.

22. New England Patriots...OLB Brandon Graham (Michigan)...Defense, Defense, and more Defense is the outlook for the Patriots draft...Graham has the athletic ability to drop in coverage and bring some heat off the edge as a rush end in the Patriots 3-4 scheme.

23. Green Bay Packers...OT Charles Brown (USC)...The Packers need to find a starting  left tackle in this draft and are hoping they found their man...Brown is a former tight end that has the skill set to play left tackle in the league.

24. Philadelphia Eagles...DE Carlos Dunlap (Florida)...The Eagles would like to find a DE, an OLB  and a Safety in this draft...Dunlap is the pick since Andy Reid has a history of taking linemen early.

25. Baltimore Ravens...WR Golden Tate (Notre Dame)...The Ravens might have interest in acquiring    Cards' WR Anquan Boldin before the draft and could dangle DE Terrell Suggs as trade bait since the Cards are looking for a OLB...if that doesn't happen, this pick could be used on a WR like Golden Tate.

26. Arizona Cardinals...OLB Sergio Kindle (Texas)...The Cards would like to add another OT (not         necessarily a LT since Matt Leinart is a southpaw), find a pass rushing OLB, and a replacement inside        for Carlos Dansby, if he departs in free agency.

27. Dallas Cowboys...OT Vladimir Ducasse (Massachusetts)...The Cowboys need an upgrade at the OT position and find an ILB and a FS...Ducasse is the pick to challenge Flozell Adams.

28. San Diego Chargers...OT Bruce Campbell (Maryland)...The Chargers have needs at HB, RT, NT, and depth at the DE position...Campbell is the pick to improve their offensive line, but a NT and HB will be targeted in round two.

29. New York Jets...OLB Ricky Sapp (Clemson)...Sapp is the pick since the Jets need to generate some pass rush from the OLB position since former first round pick Vernon Gholston has been a bust up to this point...The Jets could also be looking at a WR here or a DE like Jared Odrick since both of the the Jets DE's (Shaun Ellis and Marques Douglas) are getting up there in age.

30. Minnesota Vikings...FS Taylor Mays (USC)...The Vikings need help in their secondary at corner and at the safety position, and they would like to upgrade their offensive line at tackle...The Vikings are also waiting for a decision on the Star Caps case that could sideline both of their DT's for four games next season...a DT like Brian Price would fit but since he's off the board the pick is Mays.

31. Indianapolis Colts...CB Devin McCourty (Rutgers)...The Colts could use some help in their    secondary and upgrade their offensive line across the board, but the top OT's have come off the board so the Colts take a prospect that is rising up teams' boards fast in McCourty.

32. New Orleans Saints...OLB Sean Weatherspoon (Missouri)...The Saints have some tweaking to do  despite being World Champions...their number one priority is to upgrade both of their OLB positions and      Weatherspoon would do just that...Another DE, and depth for their offensive line is also a priority.

Prospects that just missed the first round:
HB Jahvid Best (California)...HB Jonathan Dwyer (Georgia Tech)...WR Arrelious Benn (Illinois)
TE Jermaine Gresham (Oklahoma)...DE Jared Odrick (Penn State)...
